Unable to get 54Mbps

Question

New Latitude D500 with TrueMobile 1300 wireless NIC which I am told is capable of working with both 11b and 11g wireless networks.  Problem is that I am only able to connect to my SMC Barricade-G model 2804WBR wireless router at 11Mbps.  When I set the SMC for '11g only' the NIC in the laptop doesn't connect and I don't see in the settings where I can configure the NIC for 11g. I am relatively new to wireless, so any tips on tweaking the router or NIC would be very helpful.  Thanks!

I had the same problem with my Latitude D400 with the built-in mini-pci Truemobile 1300 running Windows XP Pro and a Linksys wireless router. I had to update the Truemobile driver from Dells web page. The mini-pci driver is Version 3.20.23.0 A08.
