Unable to install Intel pro/wireless 2200BG network connection sofware

I installed Norton Antivirus 2007.  After that, I was not able to connect with my Netgear router and Intel pro/wireless 2200BG network connection.

Using the hardware update wizard, it says that there is a problem installing this hardware, an error occurred during the installation of this device.  The system cannon find the file specified.  I download and installed what I think are the original drivers from Dell.  The zip file is on the desktop and the drivers are in dell/drivers/r138749.

I have been online with Norton chat.  I disabled Norton and tried to reinstall the drivers.  That didn’t work.

I installed the drivers in safe mode and that allowed me to reconnect with a wireless connection, but not the correct one, despite downloading and running the R138749 self-extracting file from Dell.  This is the error message I get:

Intel PROSet/wireless 2200BG network connection device driver version 9.0.0.61 does not support Intel PROSet/Wireless Software version 10.5.1.0

Please update the driver to one of the following versions

9.0.4.x, 9.0.3.x, 9.0.2.x

How can I download and install the proper drivers for this proset/wireless hardware?

Well, I tried it and it would not install.  Everything installed except for Pre-logon Connect and Administrator toolkit.  I chose the repair option too with the same results.

Thanks

First try going to Add/Remove Programs and Removing the Intel Proset software.  Then try the installation again.
