unable to update modem drivers
My modem has been causing an occasional "fatal error" which causes Windows to shut down "to prevent damage." I have sent "the report" to Microsoft and have been advised to update my modem drivers. I am able to download, unzip, and even install the newer drivers in the Dell download section for my modem but each time I check the Modem Properties, the older driver (the original) is still listed as the driver being used. How do I get the new drivers to take over?
Modem: Conexant HSF V92 56K RTAD Speakerphone PCI Modem
Driver: Conexant Date: 11/18/202 Version: 5.3.29.3
There are newer drivers from 3 and 5 2003 (not sure about the dates)
System Tag: D7CS521 Dimension 8250
Thanks in advance.

Donald,
Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
The modem driver version you have listed (V5.3.29.3) is the version of the newest driver available for download from the Dell File Library – file name R58827.EXE which can be downloaded from the following address: http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?releaseid=r58827
This indicates that you already have the latest driver version installed on your system.
You may want to provide some more information on your issue such as when does this message happen, what software are you running, when did this error start (and were there any changes made to the system around that time) etc, more information may help someone provide more specific trouble-shooting advice.
