Unsecured wireless security
I posted this on another board before finding this one. Anyway here goes:
I am wondering about security when using a nonsecured wireless connection, such as in airports, hotels, coffee shops, etc. Will my passwords and other sensitive data be secure when doing email, on-line banking, shopping, etc. if I utilize the following:
- a firewall by XP Pro, Zone Labs, Norton Systems, etc.
- an email service that accepts SSL (or has a web-based server that uses 256 bit encryption)
- an online bank that uses SSL connections.
If not, what else should I be using, or should I simply avoid transferring sensitive data over an unsecured wireless connection all together? Thanks.
