unwanted dialup problem

Does anyone know of a Fix for an Unwanted Dialup Problem?  The dialup window appears shortly after laptop Inspiron 2500 with WinXP Home comes On and then periodically at random my laptop tries to access internet repeatedly.  I've had to unplug modem.  Dialup windows continues to appear. I have all the latest up-todate software installed and working, antivirus, firewall, adware, spybot, etc. I'm trying to eliminate problem using msconfig to disable one service at a time; so far have not been able to identify the software/program culprit.  I have recently installed Windows Media Player version 10, required by CDBurner XP Pro. Plan to uninstall both as well as others one at a time, but if someone out there has had this same problem, I'd appreciate hearing from him or her? Thanks. drlou

Try this:  Go to control panel > Network and internet connections > dial up connection.

At the connections tab check ‘Never dial a connection’  Then click OK

Folks,

Thanks for help in solving "Unwanted Dialup Problem."  I've tried many "solutions" from a variety of User Forums; no solution worked.  So, I've decided to save some of my files, ReFormat the Hard Drive and add software as needed.  Thanks again, and Adios... drlou

Before you do a re-format of the hard drive, I would suggest you consider trying a windows XP install.  That way you will not loose all your files and programs. If you have service pack 2 installed on your PC you may need to uninstall it fist in order for the XP install to run. Good luck.

OK. Thanks. I performed a Win XP Rescue Disk (6 disk) repair option to no avail. I'll try your Win XP re-install suggestion next.  (I've stayed away from SP-2; it knocks out some of my software including Easy CD Basic (Roxio) and CD-RW drive.) Thanks again. drlou
