Update driver for network adapter
I've been told I need to update the driver for my network adapter.
Would someone be kind enough to give me some detailed instructions on doing that?
Here is my problem and why updating network adapter was suggested.
The router is a Linksys WRT54G, #1 wired computer and wireless laptop is XP, #2 wired computer is W-95.
When I turned on #1 computer yesterday morning I couldn't connect to the internet. On the task bar shown "internet cable is disconnected". I tried powering off the router several times but still no connection. I bypassed the router and was able to connect to the internet.
Switched the router back in service. Then noted that I have wireless connection to my laptop and have connection to my #2 computer but still no connection to #1 computer? I tried switching the cable from input #1 to #2 on the router but still no connection to #1 computer?
Linksys not sure what the problem is, for the router is working with laptop and #2 computer. #1 computer network adapter seems ok for it works when bypassing the router??

Which make and model network adapter is your 8200? All drivers can be downloaded from:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/devices.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_8200&os=WW1&osl=EN

I fully agree my message is a bit confusing but my problem is confusing.
I too, don't think the problem is with the network adapter for I have no problem when I bypass the router. But Linksys has requested that I first try that.
Yes, it's my Dimension 8200.
As I said in my post my #2 (IBM) wired connection computer connects ok to the router. I even switched router ports... but my 8200 will not connect to the router. Linksys is saying their router works with #2 computer so it must be a problem with the 8200's network card... yes, it's confusing!
But then Linksys says if updating the network adapter doesn't cure the problem then update the router's firmware.
I appreciate your offer to help.

All I could find to download was this:

Mine is a CNet PRO200WL Fast Ethernet Adapter.
I most have missed it but didn't see it listed at that site?

OK, them maybe I should use my Dell Drivers and utilities CD to see if I can download a driver from it but wouldn't it be the same as I have. Unless the one I have is corrupt.
What do you think is best?

Device manager said the one I had on the cd was the same.
But I proved the network card is not the problem for I installed my old router... works great. So guess tomorrow I will update the firmware on the wireless router.
Thanks
