Although I doubt that updating the network adapter will solve the problem, if you want to try this, you need to make it clear which model comoputer you need the device drivers for.   Is it for the Dimension 8200?

Since it works connected directly to the modem but not when connected to the router, it sounds more like a router problem than a network card problem.  Can other computers connect through a wired connection to the router?  (I'm sorry if you have already stated this, but your message is a bit confusing, so I just have to make sure).

Which make and model network adapter is your 8200?  All drivers can be downloaded from:

Steve,

I fully agree my message is a bit confusing but my problem is confusing.

I too, don't think the problem is with the network adapter for I have no problem when I bypass the router. But Linksys has requested that I first try that.
Yes, it's my Dimension 8200.

As I said in my post my #2 (IBM) wired connection computer connects ok to the router. I even switched router ports... but my 8200 will not connect to the router. Linksys is saying their router works with #2 computer so it must be a problem with the 8200's network card... yes, it's confusing!

But then Linksys says if updating the network adapter doesn't cure the problem then update the router's firmware.

I appreciate your offer to help.

Steve,

All I could find to download was this:
cnetenxp.CAB

Is this the driver?

Steve,

Mine is a CNet PRO200WL Fast Ethernet Adapter.

I most have missed it but didn't see it listed at that site?

It looks like you are correct.   The Dell site does not have drivers for this card.  According the CNET site, the drivers should be included in Windows XP.   There are, however, drivers listed at this site:

but I haven't downloaded the drivers to see if they are XP compatible drivers.

Steve,

OK, them maybe I should use my Dell Drivers and utilities CD to see if I can download a driver from it but wouldn't it be the same as I have. Unless the one I have is corrupt.
What do you think is best?

I would suspect that the one on the Utilities CD is the same one you already have, but it's worth a try.

Steve,

Device manager said the one I had on the cd was the same.

But I proved the network card is not the problem for I installed my old router... works great. So guess tomorrow I will update the firmware on the wireless router.

Thanks
