The only way you will be able to connect wirelessly is if you can find a wireless router that has a USB connector.  I've not seen anything like this. The only connections I've seen are RJ45 (standard ethernet type connectors).

There may be a way, however, to connect a wireless adapter to the desktop and share the internet connection that the desktop has with the laptop (using the desktop as the router). I've never done this, though, so either someone on this forum who has done this will need to chime in here or you may need to do some research.    :smileyindifferent:

If there's no ethernet port on the modem, then you will likely not be able to attach a wireless rotuer to it.  I've seen one exception and that was a router offered directly from the ISP in question.  Call your provider and ask what they can do.  Ask if you can use another modem or if they can provide you with one with ethernet.  Personally I would never use a service that made me connect with USB.

THat said, if you are stuck with them and have a computer that will always be plugged into the modem you can do what the previous poster suggested and turn it into your wireless router.  You will need to install a wireless card in this computer.  You will then enable internet connection sharing (which is in all versions of windows, win98SE and higher).  You're other computers with wireless cards will then connect to this main machine's card, which is connected via USB to your modem.
