USB Wireless adapter not starting on startup

I use a usb wireless adapter with my Inspiron 531 desktop.  Every time I start Vista the wireless adapter doesn't connect / switch on.  I always have to unplug it and then plug it in again, then all works fine - connects straight away to my router.  Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks

The problem is probably Vista.  Do you have the latest Vista compatible drivers for the USB wireless adapter?  Which make and model wireless adapter is it?

It just shows up in device manager as 802.11 USB Wireless LAN Adapter and manufactured by Silicon Integrated Systems Corp.

Its actually one that I bought from Orange, and it says Thompson on the adapter

Have you tried contacting Orange to see if they have the latest Vista compatible drivers for that adapter?
