using fax modem to send faxes - help please!

Question

Have never used fax facility on a pc.  Have dimension 2400 with integral fax modem. internet access via BT Broadband - therefore using BT provided asdl modem not integral one. ideally would like to use fax fairly regularly. Q1 - is there a broadband provider which would let me use integral fax modem and therefore, presumably, the fax (very happy to change service provider).  Q2 can I just unplug things and link pc to telephone line, send fax and reconnect without having to reset all sorts of things? Q3 can I receive faxes if answers to Q1 and Q2 mean I can send faxes? Do I need a special printer or can they just be received on my pc

I have Dimension 2400 with fax facility installed. You can fax a document directly from 'file' and 'send to'.....

Tiscali offer a free number for incoming faxes or voice messages which appear in your email inbox. Faxes can be viewed, saved or printed (tiff format). Your computer should open these or you can download freeware to do it.

I just upgraded to Tiscali broadband and was concerned about reconnecting the internal modem to send a fax while broadband was also connected. However I risked it and it worked OK. Here is the answer I had from Dell after I had done it!

I can understand from your mail that you require information on the connection of FAX and broadband in the computer, You can use both the modems on the computer that is broadband and also the normal analog modem,
If there are any conflicts it will be displayed on the screen,

You may need to change your ISP if BT do not offer an incoming fax to email option. I have found Tiscali to be very reliable and free from spam!
