Do you download / run free programs from the internet?

The free programs are more then likely spyware... you have to think why would someone give something away for free that they could sell.

the large part of these type of programs are from marketing companies that run all your web searches through their servers...they look for trends of 100's of peoples web habbits and sell the marketing info. their programs are badly written and are not meant to be compatible or to release ram after they are done. There are also BHO's browser helper objects that can take you to a wb sit whether you want to go there or not. there are progs that can capture your keystrokes and send them to a remote sit, programs that will download ads and cause pop up's and just nuisance programs and viruses that are out to wreck your pc. go to spywareguide.com click on tools then free scan... also google adaware, download update deffinitions and run...google spybot , download update and run...sorry i would get the links but i am at work.

I have run checks on my computer for spyware with Trend Micro PC cillian and nothing turned up.  I tried spyware.com I think,  but it said it was incapatable to run with Trend Micro and I would have to uninstall Trend Micro first.  I wasn't sure if I should unistall it.  This computer is so slow and sometime when I go to a website the screen says website unavailable and then I have to click back and try again and it is so slow moving.  I'm going to try the spwareguide.com and see what turns up later this evening as I can't stay online cause I have other things to do.  I'll post later how I make out.  Thanks for your help.
