Yes I have done everything I can think of.  The other computers have XP and they  have internet connection.

you will loose your router setting and will have to redo them. But this will tell you if you can connect without your wpa security if you have that set.

If I do that what happens to all the current settings?

Thank you for trying to help but nothing seems to work.  I have never had this type of problem before.  I have spent hours on it.

I can connect to the internet via the cable modem.  I exepct I'll just buy a cable and connect to the router which means that I wasted money buying a wireless card.

Thank you for your help.

I managed to get connected to Internet late last night.  I'd put in the IP address I'd put in the router.  Then I wondered what would happen if I said find IP address automatically and hey presto:  The internet started working.

It is always something silly one should have thought of :-)

I have the same problem.
Can you tell me the steps you took to fix this? How did you get the router address and how did you enter it? Thanks.
I have an Inspiron 531 with Vista and a Actiontec router (from Verizon).
Thanks.
