Thanks for responding. What additional connection information do you require? Here are some details about my connection.
ADSL, 802.11g, WPA, Linksys ADSL modem and WRT350n router
Interestingly I noted that McAfee will download auto updates successfully while I am not able to load internet pages or connect to Skype. Vista shows its connected but Explore will not load internet. When I select or ask Vista to diagnose the connection it frequently says there’s no problem. It’s after about 3 requests that it will ask if I want to reset the adapter. Resetting seems to correct the problem a little more than 50% of the time. Sometimes I’ve had to attempt several resets over the course of 30 – 45 minutes before I final establish a connection.
So you have an N series router, a G card, and running Vista. You like a challenge, don't you? At least we know that the system is connected and it sounds as though it may be as simple as a firewall blocking you. Norton or McAfee running.
Try turning off IPv6 also. Please post the results of an ipconfig /all and the result of a ping to yahoo.com
After further investigation I believe the issues ties back to Mcafee. I know my pc was connected to internet but there was a web browser issue that would not display web pages. I found a notice on Mcafee website that indicates a recent product release caused some problems, specifically web browsing. I removed Mcafee and reinstalled and for now no problems. Just turning off Mcafee didn’t resolve the problem, I had to remove it & reinstall.
Did the relationship of the problem with mcafee get confirmed?
My M1210 running Vista has been getting progressively worse and now I have to turn off the wireless adaptor physically each time I start the machine. I've noticed that the first thing that happens after a startup is mcafee downloads updates and installs them. I've also noticed that if I leave the machine for 30 minutes without trying to do anything then access to the Internet is often possible without restarting the adaptor.
Even though I reinstall McAfee which I thought would solve the problem I still continued to experience problems with the internet connection. I gave up on McAfee and uninstalled it and bought a copy of norton interent security. After I did that no problems with my internet connection. Works great... Hate to say but I think McAfee is junk and a bit surprised that dell continues to install it.

Jmwills,
Turning IPV6 resulted in no improvement. Here’s the other data you requested. I also saw a recent post for a driver update:
