Vista slow internet connection DSL

Question

I have recently bought a Dimension E521. I have a USRobotics 9108 DSL router and modem, which works fine wirelessly with a laptop. However with the new Dimension, which it is attached via an ethernet cable, I can start loading a website then it slows to a snails pace. Downloads are impossible - they start then slow right down and then basically stop. I have uninstalled MacAfee, have got the latest drivers (4.6) for the Broadcom X440 NIC and updated the drivers for the modem. This seems to be a software problem.

Anybody had similar and have you been able to fix it?

I'm having the same problem. My 2 vista computers I just added are alot slower dsl on my wired home network, my xp computer runs fine . any ideas?

I just bought an E521 with the AMD 3400+ for my MIL and believe me, compared to my 5 year old+ Dimension 4100 the E521 is a turtle.   I will be contacting Dell later this week for a replacement.   Many, many people having the same issues since last summer.  Why would they still sell this model like that?  I wish I had read these forums first.  Three Dells now we have purchased -last Dell also if I can't get this fixed.   :(

Dell knows about this problem and seem to be waiting for a patch from Microsoft! So we all have to wait for the service pack. Great, so I have a machine sitting doing nothing while we wait for Microsoft to sort out their fiasco called Vista - fantastic!!

Oh dear, any inkling for how long this'll take? I'm suffering from a similar problem: New Dimension 9200 with Vista (replaced our XP Pro Machine which worked great with our D-Link router ADSL Connection) and terribly slow internet.  At the moment, our wireless laptops are faster than the wired connection! Sort it out Dell!!
