VPN: problem logging in

Question

I have installed VPN to connect to work. Once connected, the instructions are to map a network drive. I enter the required location, ads.workname.edu\files, check 'Login with different credentials' and then get the window where I enter my work username/password. However, I am not able to login. My home computer is named, say, HOME, so the window with the username/password fields indicates I am in the Domain HOME\work.username. ITS at work suggested I change the Domain to ads\work.username How do I do that? Windows 7 Home Dell XPS Studio I didn't have a problem with VPN on my laptop (Windows Vista Business edition). Thanks.

Additional information: I used 'OpenVPN Client' to make the connection. The connection does work.
