WAN Miniport Problem

Hi there,  I think it's a common problem: Suddenly my PC tries to connect via WAN Miniport (?). Connection fails, but the Vista problem diagnosis says "No problem detected".

Please, please tell me anything! I've tried anything and if I have to talk to one more service-guy, I'll have to torture somebody.

Thanks so much in advance.

DSL per cable (other useres say: "no problem")
Windows Vista
Dell Desktop PC

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm a newbie, please don't get mad: But how do I do an ipconfig/all?

I'm at work now, but I'll post the results tomorrow first thing in the morning.

Regards,
Peter

From a run command type cmd and hit enter.

At the prompt type:

ipconfig /all >> C:\ipconfig.txt

Go to your C Drive, find that file and paste the results here.

bASED On the your Logs,

it's possible that

- the WINSOCK is corrupted
- firewall is hindering your conenction

you may try going into safemode with networking first and check if you can connect from there
- try to l0wer down the speed/duplex of your ethernet controller to 10Mb half
(goto properties of your ethernet adapter and click on advanced tab, then click on speed/duplex)

strange thing: sometimes I'm able to connect. but it only lasts a few minutes. then it's dead again. checked all the cables and connections and they are ok. This doesn't make sense...

Sorry, guys. This is dissapointing. I expected a little more from the official Dell Forums. So I'll have to pay a professional...) :

@decoder: thanks! sadly it didn't solve the problem. cheers, peter

This is a "User to User" forum not the offical Dell Help site.  Some research on your part would be helpful also.

I`m sorry. But I've been researching the whole last week. All I found, were a bunch of forum-threads which all suddenly ended or weren't very helpful. I called the Dell Helpline, and a guy with a strong foreign accent wanted me to tell him in a harsh way, what I think, this "miniport" is. "You tell me!!!" I said.

Usually I am able to solve smaller computer problems, but this is different. And I am no computer pro, I sadly don't have the time for that.

Sorry, no offense, but after this week I'm kind of desperate! And now even you guys can't give me a hint.

Well, I'll have to pay someone. Or throw that piece of garbage out of the window. ( :

Thanks for your time.

PS: If anyone has an idea, please don't hesitate. As I said, I think it's a common problem, and perhaps other users would find this helpful, too.
