Weird Wifi Problem
I have a user with an Inspiron 2200 with a 1450 minipci a/b/g card in it. Recently it's developed the weirdest problem. Everytime the system is either rebooted or put into hibernation, when the system comes back up, the WindowsZeroConfig service is stopped, and the "let windows manage this connection" tab, thus making the wifi connection stop working. The service restarts fine, and after this, the wifi connection works fine, until the next hibernate/reboot. I've tried changing the service recovery tab to restart the server automatically, with no joy. Since this laptop is used exclusively for wifi connections via a VPN, this is a major annoyance. Since we lock our laptop users down to user to cut down on garbage getting into the machine, I've had to grant the user admin temporarily to allow him to restart the service. I tried using the Dell-provided wireless client, and found that when I was in an area with 5 strong b and g signals, that client indicated there was no wireless signals. At this same time, I ran the installed Network Stumbler, and it saw the 5 signals. I'd really rather find out whats going on with the Windows support for this card... Has anybody seen this before??

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the device.
Completely remove the device from the device manager. Reboot and let windows reinstall the device and then reinstall the drivers.
Note: removing the device in the device manager will also remove any connection profiles for the device -- but that may be a good thing if there is profile corruption.

Such problems often occur if there is another program or wireless utility trying to access\control the card. Such programs might also run in the background.
In these situations, whenever the computer is reboot or comes back from hibernation, these programs are reinitialized and WZC might lose control on the wireless connection.
Locate all wireless clients or software in Add-Remove and get rid of those.
Uninstall the drivers as well from device manager and reboot the computer. (This will refresh all the settings and the client software won't come back).
Its safe to remove it as WZC can work standalone as you know.

If you are reinstalling the driver after reboot again then you don't need to do so.
The utility is part of the package.
So what you can do is just uninstall the utility and restart the computer.
No need to install anything more.
The default drivers would load automatically but the utility won't come back.
