Who is ISP?

Hi, I need your help.
Sorry about the line spacing. It never comes out right when I paste from Word97 to here.

My father died and I’m helping my mother figure out her bills. They’re 80 and he paid the bills and she hasn’t a clue what or who they paid. According to my brother he has 2 internet services. One regular one for the desktop and a special wireless one for his Dell notebook (I think it’s a 1505 or 1510) that he can get anywhere, like in his car. So he must have a special card for the wireless? Do I have to turn in the card or did it come installed with the notebook, or did he buy it?

How can I find out who are the ISP? I know we want to cancel the wireless one ASAP, it’s probably pretty expensive and she doesn’t need it. I can tell on mine by my email address (@comcast.net) but he uses hotmail. Is there a way to tell on the computers?

I’ve found these 4 payments. Can you tell me which one or more could be for the regular internet or the wireless one?

ATT – Is this the landline phone?

Verizon is their cell phone

Dish TV (checks say Echostar Communications) – do they provide any kind of internet?

And a charge on their credit card for Consolidated Broadband – What is this???

Thanks,

Christine

Comcast Cable Modem is a good clue. You use the modem to connect to the internet. Verizon internet uses westel, actiontec and verizon modems. You might wanna start with comcast. Good luck, kajunn

Comcast is her internet provider!!!  Furthermore, Comcast is cable and does not offer wireless broadband.   It is either AT&T, which used to be Cingular or Verizon.  Both offer cell phone service as well as wireless broadband.  You should be able to tell which one it is from careful examination of the detailed charges on the monthly bill.  The special network adapter from either of these services would have to be purchased.

No,  I said I  USE Comcast.  I know it was hard to read without the spacing.

The only bills she has is ATT, Verizon, DISH TV (Echostar) and something called Consolidated Broadband.

I guess I could look and see if the desktop is connected to a modem.  Will the modem model give me a clue which service it is?  Like do they all use different modems?  Does DSL use a modem?

Yes, I'll have to study the bills.

DSL uses a modem.  The broadband wireless does not.  It uses the special wireless adapter that plugs into the PC Card slot on the side of the laptop.  Verizon DSL, cell phone, and wireless broadband.    ATT provides cell phone and wireless broadband.  Consolidated broadband, one you didn't mention before, provides a number of internet related services, but I am not familiar with that company.
