Why doesn't any one respond?!

Sorry if I am impatient -- I have posted 2 previous questions around the same subject and no one has responded. I would take my questions somewhere else if I knew where to take them! It looks like I am stuck here! Please help!

While my Dell Inspiron 600m sits "awake" the wireless "loses steam." it
diminishes its strength. Then I reboot and it's fine.   What's happening and how
can I avoid that happening? I have downloaded the newest drives as was suggested somplace else in this group. Nothing has changed. I have winXP pro and Intel proset wireless

Please help! Dell doesn't seem to know how to help me!

Thanks

Have disabled power management on your wireless network adapter?  There are hundreds of posts concerning problems similar to yours.  Perhaps people are just getting tired of answering the same questions over and over again.

I will disable power management --

Regarding the "hundreds of similar posts" -- I read everything I could find and tried all the suggestions (like upgrading drivers -- changing the standby mode etc) and nothing worked. Could you explain how turning off the power management affects the wireless while I am working on my laptop?  It's about 5 minutes into working on it when it begins to lose power. seems to me that this has nothing to do with power management -- but, quite frankly, that's why I posted the question -- I haven't a clue.

Thanks

rswc90,

Your 600m has an Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Internal Wireless adapter.  This forum is filled with literally hundreds of posts about this wireless network adapter and all the problems it has.  Just start reading.  You will find out quickly that the best solution found so far (although not completely fixing the problem) is to download the latest drivers for the card directly from Intel.  Here is a direct link to those drivers.  Do a little more homework.

Been there -- done that -- downloaded & installed the latest drivers and it STILL doesn't last --

That's why I posted it -- I did do my homework -- my dog did not eat it!

so... Any OTHER thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks again
