Wifi connection and 'WCZ'???
OK, I need the expert help which this forum offers, and I do NOT have!
I installed the 2200 wifi card in my 8600. Works GREAT at home. Doesn't work at all at hot spots around town. When I try to view network connections, message comes up: "Windows cannot configure the network connection...if you used other software set this up..." etc. Other messages say something about setting up through 'WCZ' or some article I need to read on the Microsoft Website. Does anyone have any idea why I can't connect? Thanks so much.

In Services, set Wireless Zero Configuration to start automatically, then click on the Start button . . after that you should be able to choose to use the Wireless Zero Configuration instead of the card software . .

I just went to the 'services' list, and believe it or not--there is no 'wsc' option in my list!
It IS in the list on my other laptop, and this one works wifi fine at home--just finds no connections elsewhere. What is going on here?
HELP!

Hi Steve:
Yes, the laptop came with this installed. I installed the wifi card however, and since it picked up my home signal, I assumed everything was OK.

Right click on Wireless network connections icon - Select Properties.
Click Install - Service - Add - Have Disk
Click Browse to C:\Windows\INF\netwzc.inf - Click OK.
Click OK / Close on the Wireless network properties window.
Turn on WZC in registry
Open services and scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration Service, Start
the service and set it to automatic. If it does not show in the list of
Services:
value "2"
