wifi connection
I have a dell vostro 1500 operating on a home wifi network. The wifi router is a Linsys wrt160n and the range extender is a netgear wn2000rpt. I have no problem connecting to the wireless router but when I try to connect to the range extender the dell utility times out as it will not authenticate. It does not seem to be reading the network key. I have several other laptops in the house and they all can connect to the range extender without any problem. I disabled the firewall but this had no impact on the problem. Any suggestions?

res55,
Make and model of your computer and operating system? 32-bit or 64-bit?
What virus program and firewall are you using?
What type of security and channel are you using in the wireless router?

My computer is a Dell Vostro 1500 model # PP22L . The operating system is windows XP Professional Edition 32 bit
Virus and Firewall are Norton
Security is WPA Personal (PSK) Channel 1
The other laptops on the network are using the same anti-virus and firewall but are using Windows 7 operating system.
Thanks for replying

res55,
I would try mixed mode, channel 11.
When using XP, you must have XP SP2 or SP3 to be able to use WPA Security. If you didn't upgrade, you should upgrade to XP SP3 as soon as possible.
Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the notebook system utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
This says it's for printers but it gets you to Norton's firewall settings.
Allow a printer past Norton
Can you run an ipconfig /all and post it back here.
