Wifi connectivity
I installed a Dell Truemobile 1150 series wireless LAN mini PCI card into a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop. When I check the Hardware device manager is shows it as working, but it won't let me connect to the netgear wireless router that I am using. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Rob S

Rob S,
What type of Netgear router do you have?
What type of security are you using?
Are you using Mac Address filtering?
Did you install the drivers using the disk before installing the Dell Trumobile wireless LAN?
Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Hi Rick,
The netgear wireless router model is N-150.
Right now there is no security on the laptop as it is not connected to the internet.
No MAC address filtering.
I plugged in the LAN before downloading the drivers.
Bios says the wireless card is enabled.
Device Manager is showing that the Dell True mobile card is installed.
The laptop had a modem attached originally, but I want to convert it to the wifi. I am getting discouraged fast that this isn't going to work.
Thanks for any help or advice.

Rob S,
Try switching the wireless router to g mode and see if the computer connects.
If your laptop has a wireless b/g adapter, it will conect on the 2.4GHz Band. Wireless N connects on the 5.0GHz band and the wireless b/g adapter cannot connect on the 5.0GHz band.
