Could you please specify the exact version of the driver which you used? I did not uninstall the driver before I run the install routine of the new one (version 9.0.2.31) , could that be a cause?
That is the exact version that I installed. First I had downloaded it from the Intel site. Later I downloaded the one from Dell. Both seem to be the same. I did uninstall first via Hardware Device Manger and rebooted. No problem since.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and I still have the same prblem. In fact, I am typing this, and the LED is out, but I'm still connected. A small but ANNOYING problem.
This little problem is driving me nutty. Just showed up for me. Seems like after I updated to bios A05. Have tried unistalling and reinstalling the intel software... no success. It's wierd my light stays on when I'm not connected to a wireless signal but as soon as I connect the led turns off.
I still have a signal just no wifi led.
I wish someone could find a solution to this annoying little bug. Where did it come from? A windows update maybe? Could the latest bios A05 be the culprit?
Are you using the Windows connection manager or the Intel application. I am using the Intel. I do have a problem with downloads via HTTP that hang. FTP works fine. Have had that problem since I got the system.
I found the problem with the http downloads and it was the Zone Alarm included in the Computer Associates EZ Trust package. After a reinstall that problem is solved. I did try the newest level of Intel driver, version 9.0.3.9. http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?&DwnldID=9563&ProductID=1784
Still the LED is solid. Wish I had an idea for you.
Okay I think I solved my issue -- it was the latest iteration of the omega driver -- this marks the second time that driver has had a weird bug in it for me -- I always use to use it on my old 5150 with great results -- oh well I guess I'll stick with the dell drivers -- the omegas are so much better for games though!!!
Sad to report the problem has reappeared... thought the omega driver was the problem... rolled back to a backup without the driver and the problem left for a week or so but now it's back. What is causing this?
keep scratching your head lol. its the cards drivers. intel hopefully will put out some good drivers someday. but as for now let windows control the card. dont use intel pro wireless software to run the card.
As I have started other threads regarding this problem with the wifi light, now I have found this thread, can anyone help here??? This is ridiculous! I just paid 2 grand for a notebook and a light doesn't want to stay on! Someone has got to have an answer for this problem. I have emailed Dell tech support this evening, still waiting for a response, tried to contact Intel directly but they won't even speak to me about this, "Call Dell"! Duh...don't they think I have done this already?
Also it doesn't matter if you use Windows to manage your connection or the Intel software to manage it, the light still goes off! Amazing, I have used incredibly cheap wifi cards before that worked without a hitch, finally I get a notebook with a INTEL wifi card (who could go wrong with Intel right?), and the card doesn't want to function correctly. Amazing...
my light hasnt gone out in months on my 9300. it did for a while after i got the laptop. like i said before i have windows client running the card. i have a linksys router with extended antennas paid extra for them. i took off my firewall and security from the router and my connection has been solid since september. no connection drops and excellent connection. im still using the 2200 card in there. I no longer do microsofts updates because i think that one of there security patches caused the problem. the only thing i keep up with the updates is microsofts spyware. i do have windows service pack 2 installed. if you still have problems i would buy a linksys pcmcia card and slide it in the side and use that. disable the 2200 inside the unit.
