Wifi Network Driver Issue (urgent)

Question

I recently bought the Inspiron 1720. It comes with Vista. I format and re-install all my drivers....one big problem though. The wifi driver will not install. I have tried countless drivers from dell website and intel website and after I get done installing, in device manager it still shows the driver not installed (with the yellow ? mark). I have even tried the patch they had recently released and it still shows my wifi driver not installed in device manager. I ran out of ways of trying to fix this. If I need to include anymore details just let me know. Thanks

Do you know which make and model wireless network adapter is present on your 1720?  That would be the first thing you would need to tell us.   Steve

it's the Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card.

It is not clear from your initial post whether or not you are reinstalling Vista or some other version of Windows.  Can you clear that up?   Steve

Ok. It came with Windows Vista and the wifi worked just fine cause I was testing everything to make sure it all worked before I done a clean format and installed Windows XP. I prefer XP over Vista. Everything went fine with drivers until I got to the Network Controller (the wifi). I have searched the dell forums many many times finding many drivers and having tried them all, I still had no luck getting the driver installed. I am running... Dell Inspiron 1720 Intel Core 2 Duo T7250, 2.0GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache - 2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm - 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card. I hope this helps out more. I typed up my first post right before I went to bed after I had spent many hours searching for a solution.

I wish you had said that in your initial post.  Since you installed XP, did you install the chipset drivers before even attempting to install any other devices.  Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for many other devices.   Steve

WOOHOO! Ok guys dont worry about helping me anymore I found my correct driver after having no help from Dell. This driver isnt even listed under the Inspiron 1720 drivers and downloads page in Vista or XP. Here is the link to the correct driver for the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card.

I can't find either of those drivers. So I guess I will have to stick to R151519.EXE cause its working just fine.
