Doesn't sound like a wireless problem. Sounds like your outgoing mail server setting (SMTP) doesn't work with the system you are on. Check with your ISP on instructons for email use while on another Internet provider.
AOL is a whole different ballgame and anything anyone using AOL can or cannot do has absolutely no bearing on your problem. Most ISPs will not allow you to send email through another ISPs SMTP server (outgoing mail server). You will either have to contact the ISP through which you are connecting to find out if they will let you use their SMTP server, or you will have to use web mail, if your own ISP has such a feature available.
