Wifi software not active... any clues?

Since I reinstalled Vista on m 1525, the wifi's not working properly.

1
It won't automatically connect when in range of a network.

 2
The wifi box doesn't come up on screen when I press the wifi button on the side (bottom right)

I've tried updating the communication drivers, but no luck.

This didn't happen last time I re-installed the OS, any ideas on how to fix this?

 Thanks

 mooselikesme,

The Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first(if applicable), then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

Since the operating system was re-installed did you remember to go to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install these drivers in this order.

:emotion-55: Hint :emotion-55: When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.

Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software(if applicable)
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card

QuickSet(Laptop only)

Thank you for the information.

What should I do now?

Can I uninstall then re-install?
Do I need to reinstall the entire operating system?

Can I fix this?

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for the info.

But what if they've already been instealled when I reinstalled the OS?

Do I just re-install them again?

Can I uninstall them?

Thanks!

mooselikesme,

Just try starting with installing the Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first(if applicable), then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

Then install the rest of the drivers.

Thanks for the info

Do I install them over the drivers previously installed.

Do I uninstall the old drivers?

mooselikesme,

Just think that you just installed the operating system.

Start here...

mooselikesme,

Just start installing the desktop/notebook utility, then the chipset drivers.

Then go right down the list...

Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card

QuickSet(Laptop only)

OK

But

Do I do this on top of the drivers that I've allready installed, when I reinstalled the OS

Or do I uninstall the old drivers

Or reinstall the OS?

Thanks

Hello

I've already re-installed my OS, but don't want to have to do it all again.. it takes so long.

Any way to get around this?

Thanks

So

You're suggesting I just re-install the drivers on top of the old ones.

If that's it.. I'll try it

Thanks

mooselikesme,

Just install the drivers in order. Everything shoul start working. The system utility and the chipset drivers control usb devices and other items and need installed first.
