Wifi will not work

I have a dell inspiron 1300 laptop and I added a wifi card. I can get it to read. I have tried everything I can think of and then some. My problem is it is not reading

or showing that the card is hooked up. If it would say no signal, or driver missing or anything, but nothing. I have order another card thinking maybe this card

is bad. I hope. But just in case if any of you out there have any ideals, I can sure use it. Just think if the card was bad shouldn't the computer say so? Need

help.

Hi,

There are two possibilities your Wifi Card isn't detecting.

 1) The card has not been inserted properly - Reinsert the wifi card , clean the area

 2) The card has gone bad - Replace

Check in Device manager under network adapters if the card is getting detected.

I was checking on your answer and there was nothing said about the driver being installed. When you purchased the wifi card, it should come along with the CD. You should install it first.

When you open up device manager, can you see the wireless card under Network adapters? And does it have a yellow question mark on it? http://imagicon.info/cat/12-4/vbulletin-smile.gif

no there was no disk. I bought the card on ebay used and incase i did not mention this is a internal wifi card. I have

downloaded the drivers from the dell site and still does not work. It does not show at all on the device manger. I am

hoping it is a bad card. If not then something (hope not) is wrong with the motherboard. I order a new card and when it

gets here I'll know.
