Win98SE not recognizing the modem
Greetings;
I picked up a couple of low profile Optiplex GX100 systems at an auction for friends a year or so ago and they were running great. Well, my friend's daughter trashed Win98 and after I re-installed it I still can't get the modem and sound working. The service tag is 65A6H, and I believe the modem and sound are factory stock. I did upgrade the BIOS to A10 (I believe), but when I tried to download all the drivers from the Dell website, I see that there are multiple choices for the modem drivers. The board says Modemblaster and DI5630/ DI5631/ DI5633. None of the drivers on the Dell site work, so I am getting frustrated. Any suggestions? Should I go to a Creative site and look for ModemBlaster drivers there? Do I need the older BIOS? Do I need to turn off the comm ports in the BIOS?
Same problem with the sound card also (But, that is a different thread).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
