Unfortunately, I have no information on which Windows 10 drivers for hardware that Dell will be making for their computers. Hopefully, soon we will get more information as the date gets closer for Windows 10 launch.

More than likely the driver will be inbuilt. Theres a great deal of drivers inbuilt to Windows 10. Theres also rumours that Microsoft will be working with major OEMs better to deliver driver packs via Windows Updates.

Thanks to you both for your replies. It looks as though this is a hardware problem rather than a driver issue. I have grabbed the message that comes up when Windows checks my laptop for compatibility.

I too have a Dell N5010 running Windows 7 SP1 64-bit and I got a similar report regarding compatibility with Windows 10.

However, for some reason the only reported issue I ought to expect on my Dell is with the Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter.

What about the Dell 1703/BT card. Also showing as not possibly going to work with W10. Drivers are from last Dec. it seems. The 1704 and 1705 were updated mid April and are supported. My XPS8700 came with W8.1 installed so I'd expect that driver to be updated. Is it possible to get some answer on this through your connections?

Also the Dell version of McAfee LiveSafe (3 year subscription bought with the XPS) needs to be updated for W10 as well and a needed fix for Thunderbird requires the Version 14 but Dell still has 13.6 as the only version available.

We NEED W10 fixes or a schedule when available!

Installed it and I got this dialog box:

Huh? I did do the 'replace' option though.

I had to re-boot and then decided to UNINSTALL the network and BT devices from Device Manager. Re-booted and they were still there?

OK this time the install started immediately. Still got the same 'warning'?

I looked at one of the Device Properties and saw this:

Version and date is even older than the present one in the list for XPS 8700?

How can I install this?

The one I listed is for the Dell Wireless 1707 card but I have got reports that it works on the 1705 and 1703 cards. In fact in the athwb setup information file it lists all the following Dell Atheros cards.

The one I listed is for the Dell Wireless 1707 card but I have got reports that it works on the 1705 and 1703 cards. In fact in the athwb setup information file it lists all the following Dell Atheros cards.

Uhh, this one is 'user error'. In my frustration I did an on-line Chat about being back-level and the error. The 'user' (me) didn't fully understand the choices:

I 'assumed' I wanted to REPAIR the existing driver install. No, that is not right it seems. I had to do MODIFY which the agent did and it installed fine, although they used the install file for the XPS (10.0.0.301)

I'll wait a day or two to see if GWX catches up to it, but if it doesn't at least I know what to do to install it. I guess the error dialog box was wrong? As I read it, 'existed' to me meant the one installed, but it was actually the one I was trying to install.

Anyway I think I'm OK now, at a newer level than before and know how to install the one you gave me if I have too.

One of the things I did try was just that but the dialog box error persisted. On starting the re-install after the remove I wasn't asked what I wanted to do, the install required me to agree to some things and went off and the error again came up. Suspect the removal didn't get everything?
