WINDOWS 2000

I recently purchased an Inspiron 1150, wireless router, and would like to network with my existing Dimension L667r.  The laptop is running XP and the desktop is running Windows 2000.  Am I going to be able to do this or do I need to upgrade the 2000 to XP?  I have received conflicting answers as to whether or not I can install the XP upgrade on top of 2000.

You should not upgrade over ever, but it won't be necessary since the two will network together fine.  XP's firewall will need to be disabled to allow file sharing.
