Windows 2003 Server

Right now it seems that Dell does not a provide a driver for its TrueMobile wireless internal network card when the operating system is Windows 2000 Server.  Is Dell planning on writing drivers for Windows 2003 Server when it comes out, and if so, how long does it generally take to get drivers written for new operating systems?

Cool! How do you get it to display that dialog?

And where do you get the SP for '03? I've got an MSDN Universal subscription and I don't see it available for download anywhere. And Windows Update says there are no updates available for me. I'm running Std. Edition, though, not EE.

Thanks!

2k3 is nice, I've been running on my notebook.

Of course it'll have drivers for more hardware - it did come out some time after XP afterall ;)

You can always enable the "home user" interface btw ;)

And you can DISable all the cutesy carp on XP and make it look just like 2000/2003. I had done that before I reformatted and installed 2003.

Incidentally, the statement that any XP drivers will work on 2003 is not 100% true. The Dell Bluetooth driver that works fine on XP won't install on 2003. Unfortunately, in this case it is (apparently) because of a licensing issue and 2003 reports itself as a different version of Windows than 2000 or XP.  That COULD mean that other software or drivers that check the Windows version will work differently or not at all on 2003.

I Agree with you on the windows 2003 decison... i personally use (have been useing since liek march) win2k3 because i cant stand the home user atmosphere made in windows xp... if it was up to me i would rather run windows 2000 than windows xp... but windows 2003 server is basically windows xp + 2000 withough the "home user" effect of windows xp. Win2k3 does support in my experiance more drivers and hardware than windows xp (in desktop useage.. it knew my highpoint raid dirvers, linksys corporate wireless drivers ,audigy sound drivers.. things that windows xp is lacking) next up is windows 2003 has better security( you know those worms like blaster.. win2k3 was unaffected) and a much cleaner feel to it.. not to mention in gaming the extra fps/lower ping due because of the lack of the unecessay and grafical aspects of windows xp. and whats also nice.. comapred to windows xp multiple users can termial into your computer/another computer comapred to windows xp kicking off the curent user useing the pc. and by doing this its possible to have more than one desktop on your pc.. just terminal into yourself and run dififernt apps on differnet desktops that you dont want bothering your main desktop.

as for driver support i wouldent use dell drivers/software unless i absolutly had too.. you can find beter dirvers for that hardware unlike useing the dell hacked versions. basically anyhting on windows xp and below work on windows 2003 well other than home user antivirus.. which is good cause your forced into useing a corporate version which is better :) anyone who thinks win2k3 is bad or cant really afford it to try it.. microsoft offers 1/2 year of free trial.. look on windows.com
