Windows cannot find any network....

Question

When trying to conect to wireless broadband with my new Dell (purchased with inbuilt wireless), it comes up with 'Windows cannot find any networks'. I am currently working right beside the desktop on my laptop and it's wireless connection is working fine with my broadband.   I've checked the technical support guides and have established that the wireless in the desktop is switched on. I can not understand why it's not detecting any networks as my laptop is picking up 6/7 from near by as well as my own.   I have a Dell Inspiron 530 with Invista. If anyone has any suggestions I would much appreciate it as I have spent over an hour on hold with Dell Technical Support.

My wireless is Intel(R) 82562V-210/100 Network Connections with Broadcom802.11g Network Adaptor. Both are enabled.   By broadband is coming via a Belkin 54g router and has excellent network strength on my latop which is right next to the desktop.
