Hi,

Are you able to get out to the internet and view other web pages?  If so, it's not your wireless card.   When you did the clean install of Windows 7 what installation media did you use?  Did you get that media from Dell?   Were you able to activate that installation of Windows?

If Windows doesn't see the installation as "genuine" it will not download and install updates.   Dell uses a special process that embeds your product code from Microsoft in the install media and automatically actives the installation, providing you a license to run Windows.  With that completed you can then access, and install, updates from Microsoft.

Let us know about whether you can get to other web pages, etc.  And what media you installed Windows from and whether you were able to activate it.   We can try and give you more information once we know a bit more about what is going on.

Hi,

If you're loading web pages but getting stuck at Windows updates there isn't much I can do to help you, unfortunately.   My best guess it's an issue with the authentication / activation of that copy of Windows 7.  You might be able to contact Microsoft, or search the internet, to find out how to update Windows with an invalid activation.
