Thanks, i knew about the reseting rule and winsockxpfix but never heard of lsp fix will give that a try

First note that whenever you change the device connected to a cable modem, you have to do a complete reset of the network.  To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem (either the router or the computer), then turn on any other computers that will connect through the router.
 
Try downloading and running winsockfix for Windows XP from the Here and if that doesn't work try lspfix from Here.

Let me know how that IPSfix goes. I may have to add that tool to my list.
