Wired + Wireless Connection Problems

Question

Ok i have a dell dimension 4600 windows xp2 with all current updates installed from windows update. with my wusb54g wireless usb adapter im able to connect to my wrt54g wireless router with an excellent connection. However even though it says i am in excellent connection i cannot load any webpages aim or anything! Have firefox 2 and internet explorer 7 tried with a proxy without a proxy just nothing working..and also if i go to look for wireless networks THERES NOTHING IN RANGE when last week there was at least 5-6 all the time. I have done virus scans, spyware scans reinstalled windows xp, reinstalled xp2 no luck. Linksys says my wrt54g router needs a firmware upgrade , but i cant download that because when i plug the router into the computer with a wired connection or just cable modem to computer it self it still does not work..i get its connected by no webpages loading how do i fix this?

Thanks, i knew about the reseting rule and winsockxpfix but never heard of lsp fix will give that a try

First note that whenever you change the device connected to a cable modem, you have to do a complete reset of the network.  To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem (either the router or the computer), then turn on any other computers that will connect through the router.   Try downloading and running winsockfix for Windows XP from the Here and if that doesn't work try lspfix from Here.   Steve
