Wireless access problem

I wanted to see if anyone has had any issues like I am seeing with my wireless setup.  As shown in the details below, I am running an Inspiron 8500.  My wireless access point is a Linksys WAP11 v2.2 with the latest flash updates.  I am using a Linksys WPC11 pcmcia card with the laptop to connect to the access point.  I have MAC filtering set in the access point as well as a 128 bit shared WEP key.

Up until late last week, the wireless portion of my network had been working flawlessly.  Now, most of the time, I am seeing constant disconnects and reconnects.  I have tried everything from removing the WEP key, the MAC filtering, and changing channels, all to no avail.

Has anyone got any thoughts?

BTW, my phones in the house are all 900 MHz analog.  I have looked around and I just can't see anything that might be running at 2.4 GHz and causing an issue with the access point.

dirgon,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try the following:

  • Update the drivers and firmware for the router and also for the wireless network card.
  • Try changing the channel on the wireless adapter.
  • Remove all sources of interference, like cordless telephones, microwaves, etc.
  • Disable WEP on your router.

You may also want to look at the suggested sites at the bottom of the Network FAQ.

Thanks for the reply, Bob.  As mentioned in my original post to the thread, I have done all of those things, except for removing the phones.  I will try that and see if it makes a difference, but I am not sure that it will.

One thing that I had not done was to just reset the access point and reconfigure it.  I did that tonight and I have a connection that is showing 100% for link quality and signal strength both.  Of course, I am sitting about 3 feet away from the access point, though.  I have not moved around in the house to see what happens with the connection.
