Wireless access problems on year-old Inspiron B-130

System model number: PP21L OS: Windows XP I took my laptop to my sisters and tried to use her wireless network, but it kept coming up asking for a key code. We tried to enter her password but it still didn't work. Come to find out the wireless network was unhooked. So when I got home I tried to connect to my wireless network and it wouldn't connect. I have reinstalled my wireless router, and done everything that I can think of to reconnect to my wireless network. Is there something that maybe got scrambled on the computer? Would I need to reinstall the wireless driver for some reason? I hit the Fn and F2 button and the antenna was on. Any ideas? I really hate hooking up to an ethernet cable to get online. Thanks! Kim

Are you sure that you put in the right keycode(passkey/network key).. if it using WEP the code is usually a 10 digit number. you can find this number when you open up your router page (your router/modem manufacturer can help you on this one)

For your connection problem in your own wireless network, what utility is managing your wireless? is it Dell WLAN Ulitility or Windows?... if its the Dell that you are using.. try this:

>go to start.. then all programs.. then look for dell wireless.. click on dell wlan card utility.
>you are gonna see check boxes on the utility.. uncheck all except enable radio.. click apply, then click ok.
>if your windows wireless zero is set to automatic, an icon at the taskbar should show up and tell you that wireless networks are in range. connect to you network, and poof.. WiFi !!!.... ^_^

see if that works... :smileywink:
