Wireless Adapter not working. Is it my comp?

I have a Latitude D600.  I bought a Netgear WG511T wireless adapter 6 months ago and it has been working fine until a week ago.    I was unable to use my comp for a period of about 1 weeks because I needed to get a new power adapter.  Once I started up my comp after a week, I noticed that the wireless icon in the corner of my comp was not displayed.  I checked my Netgear adapter and saw that it was not lighting up.  I had it installed in my comp the entire week that it was tuned off.   I removed, reinstalled the Netgear adapter, etc, but nothing worked.  I've since downloaded the new software upgrade for the adapter but that didn't work.  I even dowloaded the most recent driver for the O2Micro OZ711EC1SmartCardBusController after I had unistalled the 'Generic Controller' listed under the PCMCIA adapters in the device manager.  This didn't work.   I've since taken my comp back to were I bought the Netgear adapter and tried a new WG511T.  That didn't work.  I tried another brand, and that didn't light up either.  I then plugged in a USB Netgear adapter and finally my comp recognized that new hardware was installed.    What's going on with my comp?  Is it something wrong with the drivers? Looking at the manual for your system it looks like your system has one PC card slot and one Smart card slot in the same location. According to your previous post you uninstalled and reinstalled the Smart Card controller. You need to uninstall and reinstall the PC card controller if the Netgear WG511T is the adapter that you are using.   http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd600/0N983am0.pdf

I reset the driver back the 'previous driver setting'.  Now both PCMCIA reads 'Generic CardBus Contoller'.  Unfortunately, it still doesn't work.....  Could the BIOS settings have be lost when the laptop was discharged?

Are you able to run your diagnostics? See what it comes up with for your PCMCIA controllers...   Just curious? Are you installing and removing the PC card with power on?

I ran the starting of the diagnostic, but I don't have the 'drivers and utilities' CD to run the rest.  Is there a way that I can download it?   Also, regardless of whether I remove the PC Card with the comp or off, it still doesn't work.

Do you have a Utility partition installed on your hard drive?(Would be in the BIOS setup menu(F12))   I'm guessing that the service port for the PC card is 'fried' and will require a service to repair it.
