The router has 4 ethernet ports that allow up to 4 computers to connect through a wired connection. The 4600 has integrated ethernet. Only if you need to connect to the router by wireless would you need to install a wireless network adatper.
To hook up another desktop comuter would I just connect a another wireless adapter to this new computer ? How many computers can I connect with wirelessly with one router

So if you want to connect another computer by a wired ethernet connection, it should be no problem. If you want it to connect wirelessly, you will need a wireless network adapter. You should be able to connect up to 252 computers to the router by wireless.
