wireless and network problems

I have a problem with my Inspiron 1150.  When I first boot it up it will connect to the internet, or email with no problems.  Once I have switched to 5 pages, or so, it will not download anymore pages.  It still is showing excellent connection and good ip.  This is with wireless and network cable plugged in, tried it both ways.  Our desktop runs fine through the router.  Also, I can login to a poker site without any problems, even with the internet not working right.  Seems like the network card is bad, but not sure.  Any help would be great.

I'd suggest doing a full scan for viruses and spyware.  If you still have access to a poker site at the time you have the other problems, it's not a hardware problem.

Unfortunately I have run a virus and spyware scan several times now.  Only thing that pops up, is a tracking cookie, that I took care of.  I'm running Norton internet security 2007.

as a troubleshooting step, try a wired connection to your router with the laptop and see if it still has problems.

I'm pretty sure I've seen this before.... I think it's a service called "windows zero configuration" or "Windows Wireless Zero Configuration" - something like that. It's Windows trying to manage your wireless and dropping your connection in the process. It causes it to sorta go up and down like a yo-yo. Look to see if that service is running, and if it is, disable it. You might also have a problem with Windows Firewall - I tend not to use it.
