Wireless card options for Dimension L800CXE ?
What are my best options and/or restrictions for installing a wireless card on a Dimension L800CXE - running XP Home, wireless Belkin Pre-N router? Any compatability issues?
Here is the whole scenario...
Environment:
- Inspiron notebook using a Dell Pro 2200 wireless card, via a wireless network is connected to a Belkin Pre-N, which is connected to a cable modem. Working fine.
- Dimension L800cxe is hardwired to the Belkin. Working fine.
Goal:
- Want to be able to print to a Dell 962 printer from the L800 and the Inspiron (wireless) laptop.
Problem:
- Trying to connect the printer to the L800 along with a Dell 3300 wireless printer adaptor (so that the Inspiron can print from it.)
- Resolved: Had to upgraded the L800 from Win/ME to XP Home, as the 3300 wouldn't work on ME.
- Open: Running the 3300 set up procedure on the L800 won't recognize the wireless network. (The L800 is hardwired to the Belkin)
Fix?
- I'm guessing now that I need a wireless card on the L800 -- even though then I bought the 962 and 3300 and explained my goal, Dell told me that wasn't necessary. Seems like it is. Is this the cure and what card restrictions do I need to be aware of?
Thanks for any advice.

The wireless network is exactly the same as the your hard wired network. In other words they are already on the same network so there is no need to connect the L800 by wireless - it's already on the network.
