I have been helping a friend of mine who is experiencing this very same problem. The computer is an Inspiron 1150 with a Dell Wireless 1350 WLAN MiniPCI Card. She is experiencing this problem both with her new NetGear router and with my Linksys Router. The problem appears to be that the computer doesn't save the WZC configuration settings when it is shut down, reverting to the Dell Wireless settings. If anyone has input on how to solve this problem (turning on WZC every time the computer is restarted is a temporary but annoying fix), please post a response. Thanks!
Thanks for the advice! We just tried this. It solved the WZC problem, but now the adapter cannot get a valid IP. It recognizes the network and shows an excellent signal strength, but then it goes into a permanent attempt to acquire an IP. Any ideas about what to do now? Thanks so much!
Do you have any of the security features of your router enabled? If so, you either have to make the security settings on the network card consistent with those on the router, or temporarily disable all of the secuirty features on the router until you can get a consistent connection.
We made the security settings the same on the comp and the router and are still experiencing the same problem of failing to get an IP. On a hunch, I decided to try the comp on my wireless network, which uses a Linksys router. No problems there. I am actually logged on right now, with the same security settings (WPA-PSK, TKIP) as the other network. So I think the problem has something to do with the NetGear router, but I'm not sure what the problem might be. Any further ideas? Thanks so much for your help thus far.
We downloaded the latest firmware from NetGear and then specifically added each computer's MAC onto the network, and this seems to have solved the problems! Thanks again for all your help!

See if there is a firmware update for the D-Link router available on the D-Link web site.
