I have sorted the problem. For some reason my firewall stopped the internet but now it's working fine.

hey wats goin on. I dont know how to use this site so im writing anybody that replied something. I was having a similar problem and my inspiron 1545 telling me i have limited access. Troublshooted with clear for an hour and the next night with dell for an hour. They both couldn't figure it out. Took it to the geek squade and he couldn't figure it out. Dell rep told me my IP addess was different from what they have and I also had to get a soft wear warrenty for 2 or 300 dollars and thats clearly not happening because I just bought this computer two months ago. Can you help?

I have had thIs issue resolved for quite some time now. For me the action center said I had limited access. Pretty much saying its connected but you can't get on the net. I called dell and told them the problem after showing it to an IT specialist at my job and he said more then likely it's just a virus. Before I could finish explaining my issue the dell rep knew the problem but he couldn't fix it unless I paid for it. They tried to charge me over a $130 for it so I talked them down saying I only had about 60 and they looked out. End result, it was a virus like my IT guy said, but not one that would crash a computer. Just one that's there to get on your nerves. Apparently I got a virus through an email and it disabled my Macfee security that came with my laptop. Dell simply remotely took over my computer and they uninstalled Macfee completely and gave my better security. I watched the whole thing and thought wow this was such a hassle yet so simple to fix. It only took about 10 minutes. But it was worth it, haven't had that problem in over 2 years. But be aware that more then likely it is a virus from an email, your more then likely contaminated by malware. I say this because I was currently dealing with malware for the last 2 months and couldn't keep my laptop on to do anything. But luckily we have IT guys at my job that can fix this stuff ASAP. I have it to him yesterday and he fixed it in 30 minutes and I didn't have to pay a thing. That's the only info I can give you based off my issue. Best case, find somebody you know who knows about computers that can fix for free.

Hi, I have this same problem, but changing the firewall settings has no effect - could you supply more details?
