Wireless connected but no internet
I use a wireless broadband connection. My computer is an Alienware M17XR3 laptop. On Saturday morning, my internet still worked fine. On Saturday afternoon, the computer connected to the router, but returned the message 'No internet access'. The problem has persisted since then.
The connection settings are correct, and the device manager states that there is no hardware problem (i.e. all networking-related components are shown with "This device is working properly", and all other devices are fine, too, for that matter). According to information I found online, I reset winsock with "netsh winsock reset" at the command prompt. This did nothing to fix the problem. I would much appreciate any suggestions as to possible solutions.

dfnehring,
Earliest system restore point or try uninstalling McAfee. Not sure if you'll need the McAfee Removal Tool to remove it or not.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Uninstalling and re-installing McAfee was actually a fairly painless affair, and my internet connection now works as it should.
For anyone who might have the same problem with Dell/McAfee/network connectivity, a complete solution can be found here (found this only a while ago; workaround 1 did it form me):

dfnehring,
If you have McAfee installed, use system restore and go back a day or two and the connection should come back. There was a recent update that caused connection problems.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I am only offered one system restore point, after the problem began. System restore therefore won't work. I have tried turning the McAfee firewall and real-time scanning off and restarting the computer, but this didn't fix the problem. Short of uninstalling McAfee completely, might there be any other solution?
