Wireless connection - internet explorer

Hi,

I'm using a Dell Inspiron laptop 6000, with a Linksys network adapter model wpc54gx. I'm trying to connect to a wireless connection that has been set up in my flat on a Belkin ADSL2+ router.My broadband wired connection works absolutely fine. My laptop can detect the wireless connection, says the signal strength is good and that i am connected. The network adapter is installed correctly and tells me all is in working order. I've turned all the firewall off (for now) and updated the driver for the network adapter.  However, when i try to bring up internet explorer on the wireless connection nothing happens as if  i'm not connected. I've tried everything and can't work out what it could be. Could anybody help i'm losing my mind!

Thanks

Hi
try this..
go to services.msc from run and then scroll down there to wireless zero configuration and then go to properties and make sure that service status is started and startup type is automatic and then ...
then go to control panel and then go to network connection and then do a right click and go to properties and then go to wireless network tab and there is a small chk box check it and then click ok ..then connect to ur network and then try going online if that doesnt help,then restart ur computer and the time u see the dell logo start tapping on F8.. choose safemode with networking and see if u can go online there if can then
do run >msconfig >and startup>there is a small chk box saying hide all microsoft>disable all > apply >close..restart the computer .after that cmputer should work in normal mode .....

let me know wat happens

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. the service status is started and automatic. i tried connecting on safemode but it wouldn't let me connect to anything at all. i've set all the control panel settings correctly i think. I did the msconfig thing in run and my wi-fi led came back on which it hadn't for a while. I'm now still connected to the wireless connection as before but still won't connect to the internet explorer page and says do you want to connect or work offline as if i am not connected to a wireless connection. could it be anything else? this is driving me crazy!
