Wireless Connection Issues - 1390 WLAN mini-card

Dell Inspiron 1750;  DELL WLAN 1390 Mini-Card;  DIR-825 router, Windows XP

I have been having major issues in regard to my wireless internet connection.  It isn't the router or the broadband.  I have another Dell Inspirion computer and it works fine in the exact location.

First off the network adapter does not pick up any signals.  Sometimes it might pick up mine for a few seconds.  Then it drops it.  I had the Dell Wireless Utility managing my connection, so I tried to have the WZC manage it instead.  It shows pretty much the same results.  Although sometime I can connect but with very very slow connection.

I've tried a lot of different things but with no avail.  I've updated everything.  I uninstalled any antivirus programs.  I've tired to repair connection a billion times (most time windows is unable to repair).  I messed around with the utility settings.  Nothing.

I just recently deleted the DELL Wireless WLAN Card program from the Add/Drop programs list.  I believe this was the utlitiy for it.  I would like to reinstall the WLAN 1390 driver for my Inspiron.  But I cannot find this driver for specifically the Inspirion any where in the support section.  I've found the driver for other computers but not the Inspirion.  Any one know where I can locate this? Or will this same driver for other computers work on mine, the driver is compatable with my operating system.

Also does anyone have any suggestions for other avenues of success?

I have the same wireless card and am not able to "see" any networks.  If I click the network button, it will say that wireless networks are avail...however, when you click to connect, it says windows can't see any network.  (I can see networks if I click on wireless config in the network and sharing center and go to the site monitor tab)

I have tried an external wireless card (not sure if that is the technical name of it or what) and it doesn't pick up anything either.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Purock,

I could not find the driver for your computer. Please locate your driver using the service tag. Here

When you get your driver installed, You may want to check the Sticky thread at the top of this forum for help with your connection problems.

Actually I was able to fix mine.  And I should post it on here to help others who search.  I did see this answer posted in another older thread on here.

But After doing a bunch of different things, it turns out the fix was real simple.

I just needed to change the antennae diversity to AUX.  Apparently there are two antennaes to every wireless card.   To do this right click properties on the wireless network connection.  Click on properties.  "Configure" Dell 1390 WLAN wireless mini-card.  Click on Antennae diversity and choose Aux in the drop down menu.  In a minute I was back on line - faster than ever before.
