Wireless Connection Problems
I have been having a lot of problem staying connected to my Linksys wrt54gs router 1.1 version hardware. I have used the easy setup for XP and installed software myself with pretty much the same results. I have XP home on all computers. I always have excellent strength on my Dell 6000 laptop at all times. I have also downloaded the latest firmwareand have it install on the router. It is very frustrating never being able to count on my system being connected. I am not sure if there is some setting within the laptop or router I can change to stay connected or if maybe there is something wrong with either my router or the Intel wireless card in the laptop. Please help I am not sure what I need to do to result this problem.

There have been tons of problems reported with the Intel wireless adapters on this forum and on the Inspiron Network forum. Spend some time reading through the forum messages. You will find that many people report better results after setting the power management settings to always provide maximum power and after downloading the latest drivers from the Intel web site.

May be I am one of the lucky ones. My WRT54G works very well with my 6000's 2200BG adapter - it can sustain a download from the Internet at 5Mbps for over an hour (just don't ask me what I was downloading :smileywink:). If there is a connection problem, I know it lies with the router since not just the 6000 is affected.
Can you provide info on the the following?
1. Your WRT54G 1.1 current firmware version.
2. Your WRT54G wireless setup settings, such as SSID broadcast state, channel in use, encryption in use, whether Mixed mode or B/G only modes, etc. The more details you can provide the better.
