To help troubleshoot this problem, on the computer with the problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Thanks for responding. As it turns out, I called Dell support because this seemed to be so complicated.  After a couple of hours on the phone, it is all straightened out.  I think it had something to do with intel pro wireless, which the tech uninstalled and then installed updates for the wireless card.  However, it leads me to another question - if I want to eventually get a new router, will that cause another headache or is it all set now? (if you know)

Thanks

If it's working now and you get a new router and closely follow the instructions for setting it up, everything should be fine.

Hi Tonita,

I am in the same boat as you were. Could you please let me know that were wireless drivers that you installed? That would help me alot.

Thanks!

You know, I honestly couldn't tell you.  The tech accessed my computer from her end.  But I can tell you I saw her go to a driver page at dell.com and found some drivers there after she removed pro intell wireless on my computer.  But she must have re installed and updated version because it is there now.  It was a very frustrating experience.
