Check to make sure you have the same SSID name on the adapter that is on the router. The default for Linksys is linksys. The names ARE case sensitive. Check to see if WEP Encryption is enabled on the router but not correctly installed on the card. The only other issue could be MAC filtering whihc disallows any adapter connecting to the router that does not have its MAC ID installed on the router even though the SSID and Encryption key are correct.
I have precisely the same problem. According to Linksys support the problem lies in the wireless tab of the network connections properties. Yet I have not been able to repair this since the wireless tab does not exist in the properties section. This should be a component of Windows XP, yet it does not appear in my system. I have all the critical updates and packets yet it is not available.
If anyone can figure this out I and many others would appreciate it.
Try installing Knowledge Base Article #815485 to see if this resolves your issue. It really doens't make sense that if your adapter is installed, the Wireless Tab should be there.
