wireless connection
I am trying to connect a Dell laptop, Inspiron B130, to the wireless network at our home. The modem is a Motorola, the router is a D-Link and the base computer is a Dell Desktop. The network adapters listed on the laptop are: Broadcam 440X Integrated Controller and Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI card.
The network name on the desktop is Burgess1 but I can not get the laptop to enter that name. The laptop insists on using burgess1. Is that the main problem? If so, how do I fix it?
Or are there other issues?

I set the laptop encryption to WEP but don't know about the password. I believe it was filled in already.
What now?

If you are using encryption on your wireless router then you must enter the encryption key in the wireless card configuration on every computer that wants to connect to that router. If you don't enter the key (correctly) then you will not get a connection to that network.
If you do not know the encryption key you will need to check the configuration on the router itself (typically through a web paged configuration page). Please be aware that there is a difference between the encryption key and the passphrase used by some routers. If your router uses a passphrase, it creates an encryption key from that passphrase. If your router does not use a passphrase, you still need an encryption key for a secure connection.
I recommend reading the user manual for your router to find out what encryption options it has and how you find and enter the key.
