wireless connectivity problems
i just got a new XPS m140 series w/wireless. sometimes while connected, the strength of the wireless signal goes from "Excellent" one minute to "very low" the next and it performs slower and sometimes disconnects. my last laptop did not have that problem. how can i fix this? it doesnt look like a range problem because i'm fairly close to the router. another wierd thing that happened was that i turned off the power to my cable modem and router and it still picked up a wireless signal! it only showed one wireless network in range the whole time. maybe there is another distant network similar to mine and its mixing it up?

The usual fix is to check your power management settings on the wireless card. For the network issue, the Dell Wireless Utility has a feature that will show all detected networks in range so you can pick a channel that isn't getting interferrence or in the case of people like me that live in apartments, pick a channel with the least interference.

I did notice since I did that stuff it stopped disconnecting completely and I don't have to repair it every 5 minutes now. It seems it still has some connection issues at times where I will click a page and it just says connecting to site but doesn't it's odd because sometimes if I hit the number 5 for page 5 it will just sit there and say connecting but then I go and hit next page and it loads right away same works the opposite way too. Also It stopped disconnecting but acts like loses connection it will come up with could not connect click try again hit it once nothing twice nothing 3 times and finally loads page like if its going through some sort of connection cycle.

What browser are you using? Did you try a different browser?
Using any peer to peer rograms, like Limewire, Bearshare, etc...?

firefox and none. i noticed sometimes firefox won't open and have to open it twice to get it to open or reboot and try again.
