wireless connectivity

Hi, I just switched from ATT dsl to a Time Warner cable connection. It turns out that the time warner isn't wireless....which is pretty inconvenient! The Time Warner guy told me I could use my ATT wireless router to get the wireless. it's not working, so I am wondering if anyone knows if it is, in fact, possible.

Computer I am using is a Dell Inspiron e1505....the ATT dsl modem (router?  whatever it's called) is a 2wire Gateway 2701HG-B and the time warner modem (router?) is a motorola sb5101 surfboard cable modem...the Time Warner guy's instruction was to plug the ethernet cable into the wireless modem rather than the computer. Doesn't seem to work - the ethernet and wireless lights are blinking green, but the DSL and internet lights are blinking red

What I am thinking, and the feedback from someone else, is that I will need to get rid of the 2wire gateway thing and buy something compatible with cable.  I obviously don't know much about this stuff; does anyone know what i need to get wireless again if I don't have the necessary equipment already?

You probably could get the DSL to work wireless if you could get into the configuration menus and configure it. You best bet at this time would be to just get a wireless router. There are many brands and options but i would recommend a linksys product. You are more than likely running with a  "G" band wireless card so that would the type of router to get.

Here is a link to something I would recommend.. WRT54G

If you shop around you can pick one up for a very reasonable price.
